As many of you will know there was a tragic accident this afternoon at White Turf St Moritz where unfortunately Jockey George Baker and his horse Boomerang Bob fell in the first race of the day. George was taken to hospital by helicopter and sadly Boomerang Bob had to be humanely destroyed.

Trainer John Best said "I'm glad to say the news on George Baker is all very positive after his fall earlier today in St Moritz. I was there pretty quickly after the incident and tried to stay with him as much as possible although we needed to give the paramedics room to do their work. George walked the course before racing and commented to Kieren about how the track looked so good. Both the paramedics and all at White Turf were brilliant in their response and subsequent actions to ensure that George got the best attention probably anywhere in the world. Indeed the main paramedic gave me the latest update immediately prior to his airlift to hospital. All at white turf have made it as simple as possible for George's wife Nicola to be at his side as quickly and easily as practical. All of us at the yard wish George a speedy recovery and look forward to see him back racing soon".

Racing was abandoned after the first race for the health and safety of the jockeys and horses.

Gung Ho Jack

Gung Ho Jack ran a solid race out in St Moritz under Kieren Fox to take third for his connections on the last day of racing meaning that all three horses added to their prize fund with Swiss francs!

On the first weekend of racing all three horses won place money with Eddystone Rock coming 4th in the GP Longines race. John hopes for further improvement over the next couple of weeks as the horses continue with their altitude training. Picture courtesy of swiss-image.ch Andy Mettler.

All three are entered this Sunday - Berrahri races at 1130 over 1,600 metres, Gung Ho Jack at midday over 1,300 metres and Eddystone Rock at 1415 over 1,800 metres.
