It didn't take us long to notch up our first win in September. Josephine Gordon had David and Elaine Long's Ourmullion positioned nicely in touch in a 1m 2f handicap at Chelmsford on the 7th. He raced in cheek pieces for the first time which Josephine said helped in the after race interview on At The Races. She made her move round the last bend up the centre of the track to challenge for the lead, Ourmullion kept on strongly to the line to mark up another win for his owners.
Another day and another winner at John Best Racing! Fabulous result in a 6f handicap at Ascot on the 8th when Mullionheir, under a well timed ride by Silvestre De Sousa, switched to race on the wide outside to make progress 2f out to challenge the leaders. He got his head in front 1f out and kept on well to win for Simon Malcolm.
On the 16th of September we travelled to one of our favourite tracks Chester, where the consistent Berrahri again gave his owners a thrilling day's racing. This time it was in a class 3 handicap over 1m 6 1/2f on heavy going. The 6yo gelding jumped smartly under Josephine Gordon and travelled well throughtout the race. Going into the final furlong he kept on well, battling to the line to take third for owners Mark Wykes, Walter and Geraldine Paine, Mark Curtis and Bob Malt.
A little closer to home at Chelmsford, Too Many Shots stepped up in trip to 1m 5 1/2f in a handicap on the 26th . He jumped smartly under Joey Haynes to race in a prominent position. He made progress 2f out, kept on well to the line taking third place for owners Paul and Diane Beckett.
Ourmullion C&D winner at Chelmsford 3 weeks ago overcame a wide draw under Pat Dobbs to race up with the pace in a 1m 2f handicap at Chelmsford City on the 28th. He kept on well, finishing strongly down the straight to get his head in front and post his third win this year for owners David and Elaine Long.
